Construction Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO)

The Construction Safety Association of Ontario is a not-for-profit organization established in 1929. Serving over 57,000 construction firms and 300,000 construction workers, CSAO provides safety training, consultation, products and research.

Lancaster employees regularly attend CSAO safety training courses and Lancaster utilizes various CSAO resources in our Health & Safety Program.

Regional Construction Safety Group

rcsqThe Safety Groups Program promotes health and safety in the workplace. This is accomplished through mentoring, pooling of resources and sharing of best practices between member firms, their sponsor and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Along with improved safety records member firms can receive financial benefits in the form of rebates from the WSIB.

The Hamilton Halton Construction Association sponsors the HHCA Safety Group which is currently comprised of over 130 member firms from the construction sector.

Lancaster has been a member of the HHCA Safety Group since 2004 and has received rebates every year since joining.

Hamilton Halton Construction Association (HHCA)

HHCAThe Hamilton-Halton Construction Association (HHCA) is a non-profit organization serving over 420 members (builders and related professionals) who are actively engaged in the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) construction industry within the Hamilton and Halton areas. For 86 years, the HHCA has served the needs of its' members and the community by promoting excellence in structures and safety for commercial and industrial enterprises.

Lancaster is a long-standing member of the HHCA and has played an active role on the Board of Directors for many years. In 1984, Lorne Hubber served as President of the HHCA, and in 2002 Lancaster was a founding member of the Young Leaders Group, a committee now formally recognized by the Board of Directors.

Canadian Construction Association (CCA)

ccaThe Canadian Construction Association is the voice of Canada’s largest industry. Representing interests of the non-residential sector of an industry that employs close to 1.1 million Canadian men and women, and that produces $170 billion in goods and services, CCA is uniquely positioned to speak to the federal government on a wide range of issues.

Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification Program

csaThe CCA Gold Seal Certification Program is a national certification program for construction Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators and Owners’ Project Managers. Certification is based on the candidate's education, experience and their ability to satisfy the rigorous standards of the Program. The Gold Seal Certificate was developed by the construction industry for the construction industry and is a voluntary certification program that signifies that an individual has attained a nationally recognized level of experience and competence as a Project Manager, Superintendent, Estimator or Owners’ Project Managers.

A number of Lancaster employees have received or are in the process of obtaining Gold Seal Certification.

Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB)

The Canadian Welding Bureau, a Division of the CWB Group, is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a Certification Body. The accreditation covers the welding certification programs for companies engaged in fusion welding, welding consumables and welding inspection organizations.

Companies who work together with CWB not only have the opportunity to meet the requirements of the standard but also to organize welding operations, document welding procedures, verify and improve the skills of welding personnel, and improve quality and productivity.

Lancaster has maintained CWB Certification since 2002.

Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA)

Located in headquarters outside Washington, D.C., the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association, an international association of union contractors, has 1,944 members in 98 chapters throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and Brazil.

SMACNA members perform work in industrial, commercial, institutional and residential markets. They specialize in heating, ventilating and air conditioning; architectural sheet metal; industrial sheet metal; kitchen equipment; specialty stainless steel work; manufacturing; siding and decking; testing and balancing; service; and energy management and maintenance.

Lancaster has been a member of SMACNA since 1982.

Ontario Sheet Metal & Air Handling Group (OSM)

OSM is a provincial organization representing over 400 sheet metal contractors in the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors of the construction industry.

OSM is the accredited employer bargaining agency and is responsible for the negotiation and administration of all provincial collective agreements between OSM, the Ontario Sheet Metal Workers' and Roofers' Conference and the Sheet Metal Workers International Association.

Lancaster is a founding member of OSM. Lorne Hubber served as President from 1971 – 1972.

Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association (ORAC)

ORAC represents Ontario's largest single organized body of contractor practitioners in the Commercial, and Professional, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade.

As an Industry leader for over 35 years, ORAC has actively and responsibly participated in making Ontario's trade contractors one of the most advanced and efficient in North America.
In an Industry that is highly technical and sensitive to constantly changing technological advancement, ORAC has been called upon to play an important role in representing the Industry to numerous Provincial and Federal Ministries when consultation and legislation has been contemplated.

Lancaster joined ORAC in 2007.

Technical Safety Standards Association (TSSA)

Under TSSA's Boilers and Pressure Vessels (BPV) Safety Program, TSSA regulates all pressure-retaining components manufactured or used in Ontario. TSSA staff inspects pressure equipment during the manufacturing process and again after it has become operational. TSSA registers the designs of equipment in accordance with recognized codes and standards.

City Kidz

City Kidz is a non-profit Christian organization that assists disadvantaged children living in the inner city. City Kidz has been actively involved in the Hamilton community since 1991 and is a Registered Canadian Charity, # 89498 2479 RR 0001.

Lancaster employees have generously donated to City Kidz and other local charities including CHML’s Christmas Tree of Hope since 1998.

Skilled Trades / Industry-Education Council of Hamilton (IEC)

Founded in 1978, the Industry-Education Council of Hamilton (IEC) is a charitable, not-for-profit organization with a mandate to advance cooperation among business, education, government and the community. The IEC’s involvement with skilled trades initiatives began in 1997 with the creation of the “Skilled Trades: Good Careers, Great Futures” initiative. The initiative originally focused on raising awareness among young people concerning the viable career options in the skilled trades.

Lancaster has been involved in several Skilled Trades initiatives, including hosting tours for high school students and being a part of a video project promoting skilled trades throughout Hamilton.

Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB)

CFIB has been a big voice for small business for 35 years with 105,000 members nationwide in every sector. Taking direction from CFIB Members, through regular surveys, CFIB lobbies for small- and medium-sized businesses at the federal, provincial and local levels of government.
